About the session

The cognitive load on Engineering teams has grown exponentially over the past few years - with a significant amount of knowledge being required to get code changes into production.

To tackle this challenge OVO set up a Developer Experience team.

In this talk Daniel will share why they took this approach, what it means, the messy startup phase, the early signs of improvement and what they're doing next. He'll talk about and cover the following topics:

  • Communicating the value in Developer Experience - defining why we exist, what are we delivering?
  • How we created a sense of excitement around the existence of a Developer Experience team.
  • Deciding what to focus on, and what to leave for another day.
  • Sharing some of the challenges we had, currently have or see coming.

Themes:
Developer Experience, Productivity, Culture, Team, Empowerment
